About Us
Hi, I’m Amanda.
I’m a Certified Clinical Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and an Associate of Arts in Latin American Studies from Langara College.
My path toward counselling began through a deep curiosity about people and the stories that shape who we are. Studying Latin American Studies was also a way to honour my Brazilian roots and explore questions of identity and belonging. Over time, I realized what drew me most was connecting with others — walking alongside them through change, healing, and growth.
Today, I’m grateful to do just that: to offer a compassionate, grounded space for people to explore their experiences and feel supported in finding their way forward.
Why I Do This Work
Counselling changed my life. From my own experiences with therapy as a teen, I learned how transformative it can be to feel truly heard and supported. I know what it’s like to carry pain — and how healing it is to have a safe place to set it down. That understanding guides how I show up for my clients today: with empathy, presence, and genuine care.
My Approach
In our sessions, you can expect warmth and calm. I draw from Emotionally Focused, Compassion-Focused, Person-Centered, and Attachment-Based therapies. In practice, that means I help you connect with your emotions, meet yourself with kindness, and explore how your relationships shape who you are — all within a space that feels safe and supportive.
What Clients Say
Clients often tell me they feel deeply cared for in our work together. They describe me as warm, calm, and genuinely empathetic — someone who listens without judgment and helps them feel seen and supported. Many have shared their gratitude for the space we create, and for how our time together has helped them find clarity, healing, and a sense of calm they can carry into their lives.
What I Hope For You
My hope is that when you meet with me, you feel seen, supported, and less alone. Whatever you’re carrying — whether it’s trauma, new motherhood, or a life transition — you don’t have to carry it by yourself. This is a space where all of you is welcome.
A Little About Me
I come from a mixed cultural background that has deeply shaped how I see the world. On my mother’s side, my family is Brazilian with Indigenous Brazilian, Italian, German, and Portuguese roots. On my father’s side, I’m Canadian of English and Scottish (McGlashan line) ancestry. Holding both colonized and settler lineages has taught me to live within complexity — to recognize the ongoing impacts of colonization while also honouring the resilience, stories, and wisdom that continue through my family lines.
This blend of histories invites me to approach people and their stories with humility, curiosity, and deep respect. My background has taught me how deeply identity, belonging, and cultural context shape our lives — and that healing often begins when we feel seen and accepted in the fullness of who we are.
Outside of counselling, I love to read, knit, and dive into creative projects. I recharge by spending time in nature — often walking with an audiobook or podcast (Call Her Daddy, or Other People’s Problems anyone?) — and by being with my husband and our young daughter, finding joy in the small, ordinary moments of family life.
